Privacy Policy

Offlinguo does not ask for your name, email or account. It does not sell or share your data, and it does not track you across other apps.

When you translate online, the text you submit is sent to our server and on to Cloudflare Workers AI, which produces the translation. When you translate offline, nothing is transmitted at all: the translation happens on your phone.

Neither we nor Cloudflare keep the text of your translations.

To translate online we send the text you submit, plus the source and target language, to our translation service. That service passes it to Cloudflare Workers AI, operated by Cloudflare, Inc., which runs the model that produces the translation and returns it to you.

Cloudflare acts as our processor for this purpose and is bound by contractual terms requiring a level of data protection equivalent to the one described in this policy. Your translation text is used only to produce your result. It is not written to our database and not retained by us after the request completes.

Camera translation, voice translation and the Offlinguo keyboard all use this same path when you are online.

If you install the on-device engine, translation for the supported languages runs entirely on your iPhone. In that mode no text, no audio and no image leaves the device for translation purposes. This is a genuine on-device model, not a cached connection.

A device identifier. A random identifier is generated when you install the app and sent with each online translation request. It is used to apply usage limits and nothing else. It is not your Apple account, your advertising identifier, or any hardware serial, and it is not linked to your identity. Reinstalling the app produces a new one.

A hashed form of your IP address. To apply the same limits at network level, your IP address is bucketed and then hashed with SHA-256, truncated, and only that hash is used. Your plain IP address is not stored.

Service telemetry. For each request we record the event type, a timestamp, the first eight characters of the device identifier, which provider and model served it, the language pair, character and token counts, how long it took, and any error or rate-limit reason. This is what tells us the service is working and what it costs to run.

Diagnostics. Crash and performance diagnostics may be collected to find and fix defects. These contain no translation text.

We want to be precise about one thing: a random device identifier and a hashed IP address are still treated as pseudonymous personal data under the GDPR, even though they do not name you. We therefore do not claim to collect “no personal data at all”. We claim, accurately, that we collect the minimum needed to run the service and that it is not used to identify you.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, calendar, health data, or your photo library. We do not store the text, audio or images you translate. We do not build a profile of you, sell data, or use it for advertising.

Translation text is not retained at all beyond the moment it takes to produce your result.

Service telemetry is deleted automatically after 30 days.

To ask about or request deletion of data associated with your device, email contact@offlinguo.com. Because there is no account, please include the device identifier shown in the app under Settings so we can locate the relevant records.

When Translation History is on, which is the default, each successful translation is saved locally so you can find it again. That includes the text you entered, the result, the language pair, the time, and which engine produced it.

These stay on your phone. They are not synced to iCloud and are not included in iCloud Backup, so they will not reappear on a new iPhone restored from a backup. We do not receive, log or retain them.

Anyone with access to your unlocked phone can open the History screen and read past translations, so bear that in mind if you translate medical, financial or otherwise sensitive material. You can turn history off at any time in Settings, delete individual entries, or delete everything at once.

The Offlinguo keyboard is an optional system keyboard. iOS will ask you to grant it Full Access, and it needs that permission for one reason: without it, a keyboard extension cannot reach the network, so it cannot translate.

The keyboard transmits text only when you explicitly ask it to translate. It does not log, store or transmit what you type as you type it. It does not read text from other apps in the background, and it disables itself in secure fields such as password entry.

Offlinguo is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
